W.L. Gray, Jr.
Principal
W.L. Gray founded Goodpasture Gray, an S.E.C. Registered Investment Advisory Firm, in 1997 to service a discerning clientele that requires generational investment advice for portfolios using asset allocation. He is Principal of Goodpasture Gray with offices in Nashville and Houston.

He has more than 50 years of Wall Street experience serving as a Senior Vice President of major Wall Street firms, most notably Drexel Burnham Lambert and Kidder Peabody, in both New York and Texas. His institutional clientele consisted of both foreign and domestic accounts which gave W. L. an excellent understanding of the effects of the global economy on many different market structures worldwide.

W.L. became a member of Texas Zeta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Texas Christian University. Through the years he has devoted much of his time to the advancement of the Fraternity.  W.L. was appointed a Trustee of the Phi Delta Theta Foundation in 2003.  He became Chairman of the Board in January of 2007 and served in that position through 2013.  Currently he is a trustee emeritus of the Foundation. Lou Gehrig was a member of Phi Delta Theta—ALS is the national philanthropy for the fraternity.  W.L. currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the LiveLikeLou Foundation, an organization focused on pre-clinical research for ALS and family care for ALS patients.  A hallmark project for the Foundation is a partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) where W.L. is guiding towards a Live Like Lou ALS Research Clinic with a $5 million private, public and institutional partnership.  Also in Nashville, W.L. serves on the Board of Trustees of the Andrew Jackson Foundation (AJF), a 501©3 nonprofit organization that aims to increase the public’s understanding of the life and times of Andrew Jackson through preservation, exhibition, education, research and publication at The Hermitage, the home of Andrew Jackson.  W.L. serves on the Finance Committee of the AJF.

Mr. Gray’s past service has been on the Board of Trustees of St. Paul’s United Methodist church of Houston’s Foundation and as a member of the Board of Visitors for the McDonald Observatory. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the South Texas Chapter of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association, the Texas ALS Association and the Board of Advisors of the University of Texas College of Natural Science.  

He has been an instrument rated private pilot since 1970 and enjoys using his own airplane to meet with valued friends and clients. In 2021 he was awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award by the Federal Aviation Administration. He is a member of Angel Flight and HSEAT (Homeland Security Emergency Air Transport). Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, he took a very active role flying his own plane throughout Texas reuniting families whose members had been separated from one another and flying medical supplies back to the affected Gulf Coast region.

W.L. and his wife Lynn reside in Nashville. They have three sons, Sean, Will and Kyle and two daughters, Katie and Shannon.
Chris Brophy

Chris Brophy joined the Goodpasture Gray team in 2022, to better serve his clients and provide more comprehensive wealth management. He is based in Nashville, TN and works with clients around the country.

Chris has worked in the wealth management space since 2020, and before that garnered significant experience in both the hospitality and education fields. This provided Chris a special skill set to address the width and breadth of his clients' portfolios, as well as the people behind them with a welcoming, thoughtful, and educational environment.

Chris received his Bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, and stays involved with the University by helping run the Nashville Chapter of the Alumni Association. Through his efforts, the group has grown from 40 members to nearly 200 local alumni.

Outside of work Chris is involved with the Nashville non-profit community, serving as a member of the Phoenix Club of Nashville since 2022 and a board member since 2023.  Chris has been a CMS-designated Sommelier since 2018, and when not helping serve his community, most of his time is spent keeping up with the ever-changing restaurant scene in Nashville.
